What we teach

We teach Jeet Kune Do

A martial arts system and life philosophy founded by world renowned martial artist Bruce Lee in 1967.  At the heart of JKD Concepts are the words, ‘no way as way, no limitation as limitation.’ ‘Absorb what is useful, reject what is useless.’ Ultimately, discover yourself, and what works for you individually. Share and grow.

Personal Training

Custom tailored to your interests and needs.  Can involve any combinations of the academy’s offerings.  I have many private students who have continued to work with me for many years, and counting.  Personal training generates impressive results over short periods of time.

Seminars

Seminars are generally one or two day events, booked by a group in advance.  Seminars offer groups of students, who want to train and develop with the academy but who are separated by schedule or geography, an opportunity to be exposed to the key elements in the curriculum.

These offerings are ideal for existing training groups looking to supplement their current training with JKD concepts, remote students, schools and corporate interest groups.

The Academy has enjoyed 7 years working with Toronto’s most prestigious private schools, training the students in self-defense.  Chief among these stands Havergal College, running 15 sessions a year to share the confidence and personal breakthroughs with every student in their community.

  • Restraining – Use of Force for Security and Law Enforcement
  • Self Defense
  • Women’s self Defense
  • Boxing   (for Street or Sport)
  • Kick Boxing   (for Street or Sport)
  • Grappling  (for Street or Sport)

Recently we have been building a larger community, using the compiled information and experience of the academy to start new training groups.  The teaching staff is almost ready to open a new JKD training group in Barrie, Ontario.  All this thanks to the dedication of Tim Johnston who has taken on the challenge of remote training, while supplementing with private training and now seminars for the members of his group.
